While 2020 has been an unpredictable year, and the odds might feel against you right now, there’s one thing you can always count on: Kenny Flowers being here to help you navigate the seas and safely find those patches of paradise.
In a year where so much fun has been made from scratch — we’ve had to get really creative with our Zoom happy hours, backyard BBQs, etc — travel is still possible as long as you do it right.
So you want a taste of the tropics? Bon apetit.
Mask up, choose a travel buddy, get familiar with your dream destination’s COVID precautions before you get turned down at the airport and voila — you’re in for a great vacation in the time of Corona.
Here are 5 awesome and inspiring beachy destinations to help you stretch out the last of summer’s amazing weather and make the colder months feel like your favorite season.
These are what we feel to be the best travel destinations and vacation spots this season, in the U.S. and abroad. The types of places you arrive to and just say, "Yup. This is it."
Clear your calendar, head out to the pool and see which spot has you booking flights for tomorrow.
Tulum, Mexico
Rent a villa and find a secret spot on the beach. How about the exact location we just shot a few of our new shirts? Or this one? White sands, warm weather, and spicy margs — what more could a 2020 escape artist ask for?
French Polynesia
Overwater bungalows, underwater adventures and ice-cold coconuts at sea level make French Polynesia a no-brainer travel destination today and tomorrow. Paradise awaits, all you have to do is pass your Covid test and tell your boss. Good luck with both!
Fun facts and a few quick tips based off Kenny and Christina’s recent two-week escape to French Polynesia:
- If you’re going for less than 7 nights, you’ll enjoy sticking to one resort, one island. If you have more than 7 days, you could comfortably go to Moorea, then Bora Bora for two totally different, amazing island experiences.
- Our accommodation recs in no specific order: Four Seasons Bora Bora, Hilton Moorea, Conrad Bora Bora Nui
- Negative Covid tests are required within 72 hours of flying (pro tip: don’t book a Tuesday flight since that makes it tough on test turnaround time). They also give you a test to take four days into your trip. Although a rigorous process, it creates not only a safer destination, but a better state-of-mind as well.
- Christina named a bikini The Bora Bora and it vibes perfectly here.
- She’s also a luxury travel blogger and way better at covering the ins and outs of the islands. You can read more on how to travel to French Polynesia, Tahiti and Bora Bora during a pandemic here.
Palm Springs
Looking for a different kind of vacation vibe? Palm Springs isn’t technically a beach, but it offers a unique mix of desert meets oasis energy and promises to be hot hot hot for months to come. The dry, sunny climate is perfect for a poolside book with a drink in hand. An early round of golf, and an afternoon villa party. Rent one of these Airbnb houses, pack the sunscreen and enjoy a secluded group trip. The Hamptons
Relax in chic, upscale style in the Hamptons, the favorite end-of-summer destination for Manhattanites and travelers near and far. Breezy beaches, tall grass, and natural beauty as far as the eye can see all make this Long Island locale an easily accessible option for a getaway, even as the weather cools down. We all know what afternoons at Gurney’s and sunset sessions at The Surf Lodge can do for the soul, but even a casual fall weekend out in the Hamptons has some type of appeal.
Aruba
A piece of advice. When the Caribbean calls, you answer. Aruba is calling to us as an ideal place to go for a long weekend this November/December. Known as being “one happy island,” it is exactly that. The perfect place to relax, and explore. Lounge at a resort like The Ritz Carlton Aruba, spend a day cruising around the island in a rented Jeep (Zeerovers is a casual, local and fried seafood restaurant pitstop must), and of course make sure you grab a day pass and head over to Renaissance Hotel’s private island to flock around with your flamingo friends. Shameless plug, you should wear our flamingo swim trunks, flamingo one-piece and/or flamingo shirt while you’re there.
Wherever you’re headed, Kenny Flowers has you covered - Matching swimwear for your honeymoon or anniversary trip in French Polynesia, upscale leisure shirts for those Tulum nights, and even comfortable masks to travel in. We highly recommend traveling safely, and doing your research on the locations to ensure a smooth sailing experience.
One last thing, don’t miss your flight.
Shop shirts for the best vacations ever here. Shop matching swimwear for the most lit couples pics ever here. Shop comfortable, travel masks to get in a vacation mindset before you even reach the airport.
